Heartwarming Success of Scholarship Recipient

By Stacy Dry Lara | GWI Executive Director

Dear Teachers for Rural Futures Donors:

Happy New Year. To start the new year, Graduate Women International is pleased to share a heartwarming success story made possible through the generous support of GlobalGiving donors. Thanks to your commitment to education opportunities for young women, one of our Teachers for Rural Futures scholarship recipients will successfully graduate this month from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, with her Bachelor of Education.

She started her academic journey with pure determination in 2020 amid the COVID pandemic under the guidance of Graduate Women International and the Association of University Women Uganda. Over three years, she demonstrated unwavering dedication to her studies despite many challenges of transitioning coursework to the online environment and campus closures.

The impact of your contributions goes beyond financial assistance. Your belief in the power of education fuels our upcoming graduate and the other scholarship students. With your support, they overcome challenges and embrace personal and academic growth opportunities. They emerge as capable, confident female teachers ready to serve as role models for other young girls to remain in school and contribute to their rural community and beyond.

Our graduate’s success story represents the life-changing effects of your philanthropy and the positive ripple effect it can have on communities. On behalf of the Teachers for Rural Futures scholarship recipients, Graduate Women International extends our heartfelt gratitude to every GlobalGiving donor who plays a pivotal role in making their journeys possible.

Your continued support can help us replicate and expand these success stories, ensuring that more young women have access to the power of education.

WIth much appreciation,

Stacy Dry Lara
