Dear Teachers for Rural Futures Donors:

Graduate Women International (GWI) extends its heartfelt gratitude for your generous donations to the Teachers for Rural Futures program. Your support is making a difference in the lives of young women from rural regions in Uganda. Thanks to your contributions, these remarkable young women are training to become qualified, secondary school teachers and ambassadors for girls’ education. By serving as role models, they are breaking down educational barriers, reducing school dropouts, and paving the way for greater access to quality education for girls in their rural Uganda communities.

With your support, two students are engaged this summer in their student teaching practice in rural schools within their home communities. This practical internship is a key component of their training and provides invaluable experience in the classroom. It also allows them to actively serve as role models for girls in their communities, promoting the value of education. Your donations help cover the essential costs of these internships, including accommodation and meals, enabling the scholars to fully focus on developing their teaching skills.

One student [pictured] recently wrote, “I would like to let you know that school practice is going on well. I was warmly welcomed by the headteacher, teachers and learners were so excited to see me as one of the teachers who will teach them. As a teacher in the making, it has given me the opportunity to interact with my fellow teachers and learners from different backgrounds. Thank you GWI.”

Thanks to your donations, two new students will be accepted to the program this fall. We are grateful for your past and future donations, and we eagerly look forward to your continued support in empowering young women through education.

With sincere gratitude,

Stacy Dry Lara

Executive Director, Graduate Women International
