Building Economic Independence

By Farida Ahmad | CEO

The fourth batch of the Vocational Training Program successfully engaged 20 underserved women, bringing together 60 participants from all four batches of the initiative. This program focused on providing practical skills in sewing and cutting, aiming to equip women from marginalized backgrounds with income-generating abilities and increased self-reliance. Many of the trainees had limited or no prior access to formal education or vocational opportunities, making this initiative a critical step toward their economic inclusion.

Throughout the training, participants received hands-on instruction in fabric cutting, stitching techniques, garment finishing, and basic design skills. The curriculum combined technical learning with confidence-building activities, encouraging women to explore entrepreneurship opportunities such as home-based tailoring businesses. By the end of the batch, trainees demonstrated significant improvement in their technical skills, productivity, and ability to create marketable clothing items.

The week long inclusion of participants from all four batches fostered peer learning and mentorship, where more experienced trainees supported newer participants. This collaborative environment strengthened community bonds and enhanced the overall learning experience. As a result, many women expressed increased confidence, a sense of independence, and motivation to contribute financially to their households.

We are so proud of our young trainee with a speech impairment who attended the three-month sewing course showing remarkable dedication and resilience throughout her training. Despite communication challenges, she remained consistently engaged, quickly mastering cutting and stitching techniques through observation and practice. Her determination, discipline, and strong work ethic set her apart, and she produced high-quality garments by the end of the course. Her progress is a powerful example of how opportunity and perseverance can overcome barriers, and she stands as an inspiration to her peers.

We sincerely thank our generous donors for making this women’s vocational training program possible. Your support has empowered 60 underserved women with practical sewing and cutting skills, opening pathways to income generation, independence, and dignity. We are deeply grateful for your continued trust and partnership.
