At Nucleo, we believe every child should have the opportunity to learn music. Our free, immersive programme aims to make this a reality for the young people in the areas we serve, from every background and circumstance. We build strong, connected musical communities in which children and young people discover and fulfil their potential. As they do so, they develop a range of learning and life-skills that can have a truly transformational impact.
We work with children from all backgrounds, but almost half of them are from the 20% most deprived areas in the country. Many would have no ongoing music education without our free programme, missing out on the opportunity to discover a talent, reach their potential and make positive change in their communities. The need for our programme is so great, and the impact so life-changing, that we have a consistent waiting list of over 250 students.
Running a free youth orchestra during the cost-of-living crisis is challenging, but with your support we can provide more opportunities to join our free programme to talented future young musicians. Nucleo answers this challenge by removing many of the barriers these young people face and providing them with access to free musical education and free instruments. Your generosity provides the expertise of specialist teachers, books venues, purchases musical equipment and builds our team.
The outcome of our work is an improved quality of life for hundreds of young people each year, giving them more skills, hope, friendship, and solidarity with their local community. In terms of results - we've had three more of our students gaining acceptance into the Royal College of Music Junior Department, a further student joining the Chineke! Junior orchestra and 15 students accepted into the National Schools Symphony Orchestra. Your support will ensure their incredible progress continues.
