Summary

PEOF created the Relevant Education Program and Amun Shea School as a living lab for educational innovation. We design, test, and systematize methodologies for public schools, strengthening teaching and driving sustainable local development. Every donation is not just for Amun Shea; it also drives a structural change: an education that shapes young people with purpose, turning them into agents of change in their communities and enabling communities to build their own development.

Challenge

In the rural areas of El Salvador, the low quality of education and high school dropout rates limit local socioeconomic development. In northern Morazan, most young people leave school without the necessary skills to access employment or generate income. This lack of technical training and critical thinking perpetuates economic dependency, increases migration, and reduces the capacity of communities to adapt to climate change and production crises.

Solution

Our Relevant Education Program, implemented through Amun Shea, introduces an educational model that is contextualized to the specific needs of the territory and links learning with real problem-solving. It trains teachers capable of applying active methodologies and students with technical, scientific, and social competencies. The model is transferred to rural public schools in the region, strengthening local capacities and creating a more relevant and sustainable educational system.

Long-Term Impact

Our project seeks to strengthen the national rural education system training, competent human capital, capable of generating local solutions to economic, social, and environmental challenges. It aims to consolidate Amun Shea as an educational innovation center that produces evidence, methodologies, and replicable models for public educational centers in El Salvador. This will achieve a sustained improvement in educational quality and development opportunities in Morazan and other rural regions.
