Summary

Women Without Borders-Kenya would like to empower 200 girl with knowledge through education by providing them with school necessities,including books,uniforms,sanitary pads and tuition fee among others.Our education sponsorship in partnership with 39 schools wil support young girls/ adolescent girls to transition from primary to secondary education system,as this where we see most drop outs given the increase of fees.This will impact the whole community at large.and scale up with 4000 in 2 years

Challenge

Girl child education is a global challenge."ONE.org " say over 131,000,000 girl are out of school worldwide.53 million are found in Sub- Saharan Africa.In Kenya many girls drop out of school due to early pregnancy, early marriage, culture and believes,poverty levels.According to African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) It says teenager pregnancy menace in Kenya,singled out inadequate access to education as the major cause.By 2009 the data was 755,000 to 1 million by last year.Ages 15-19

Solution

WWB is going to prioritize education for young girls ,through their transition from primary education to secondary and completion of full basic education. - We are also focused on enhancing girls literacy skills helping community to change attitudes towards girls education,Through literacy, we shall support girls and young women acquire literacy skills. We shall engage both female and male teachers to develop gender responsive teaching attitudes and practices to become change agent

Long-Term Impact

Women Deliver state " Investing in girls and women creates aripple effect that yields multiple benefits, not only for individuals women,but also for families, communities and countries" A one year increase in girls education women help break intergenerational poverty.Women who are better educated have fewer unplanned children,marry later,drive national economic growth.10-20% every additional year of schooling for agirl child increases her future earnings to 20%.increase GDP by3.7% per country.
