ODC has been offering English lessons to underprivileged children in Cambodia since 2015. By providing quality education, we help combat inequality and empower individuals. Being proficient in English opens opportunities for higher education and employment. Despite Covid-19, our 2022 enrolment increased to 190, with 30 on the waiting list. With increasing needs, our goal is to expand the number of classes and employ more local teachers, and if funds allow, to build a new library.
Access to quality English education for children in Cambodia is difficult. Few state-run schools offer quality English lessons. The situation has been exacerbated during Covid when a number of NGOs closed which led to increased enrolments at ODC. We wish to meet the growing demand by running more classes. We believe that good education transforms lives and combats inequality. Being proficient in English increases opportunities for employment, and eventually lifts families out of poverty.
ODC has a proven track record of providing quality English education. Today, it has a thriving community of parents, students and a dedicated team of 6 local teachers and a Headmaster. By running more classes we will be able to offer free English education to children who want a better future for themselves and others. It is our wish to open another school in a remote village, where the need is even more acute. By supporting this project, together we can create sustainable change in Cambodia.
Our ethos is based on values, ethics and culture, and we recognise the need for holistic enrichment to help youth shape their lives. This project will empower many children from poor families with the ability to speak, write, listen and read in English and equip them with critical life skills to access better job opportunities. It will combat inequality and help transform individual lives and Cambodia, ultimately. We are making a difference. Please join us!
