Project Report | Jan 4, 2026
Transforming Lives with Access to Clean Water

By Dr. Abdullahi Hersi | Executive Director

Introduction

This project seeks to provide sustainable access to clean, safe, and reliable water within close proximity to homes in the Waranqara community in Mandera County, Kenya. Currently, severe water scarcity forces women and girls to travel long distances across difficult and unsafe terrain to collect water, placing significant strain on their health, compromising their safety, and limiting their opportunities for education and economic participation. Addressing this urgent need will reduce these burdens and create a foundation for improved well-being and long-term community resilience.

What This Project aims to Achieve

Once fully funded, this project will deliver measurable and lasting impact for the Waranqara community by:

  • With improved access to clean water, families will reclaim hours each day previously spent collecting water. Girls will have greater opportunities to remain in school, and women will have more time to participate in income-generating activities, community leadership, and family care.
  • Improving health and hygiene outcomes through dependable access to clean drinking water. Clean water will significantly reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases, which currently place a heavy burden on children, older adults, and caregivers, and will support better sanitation and overall community health.
  • Strengthening long-term community resilience by establishing a sustainable and reliable water system that supports food security, livestock care, household hygiene, and economic growth.

Fundraising Progress Update

  • Total amount raised to date: USD 29
  • Fundraising target: USD 159,032
  • Outstanding funding gap: USD 159,003

As of the date of this report, the project has not yet reached its full funding target. Continued support is critical to ensure sustainable access to clean and safe water for 6,360 people in Waranqara.

We invite you to donate today and take part in this transformative effort. You can also amplify the impact by sharing the project with your networks and community. Together, we can reach our goal and ensure lasting change.
