Transforming the Social Finance sector in Brazil

The Melhores ONGs Award from Instituto Doar, the largest in the third sector in Brazil, has once again selected SITAWI among the 670 organizations that sent in their applications. The areas taken into account by the selection were governance, transparency, communication and funding. 

Since 2017, the partnership between Instituto Doar and the social-environmental projects agency “O Mundo Que Queremos” (The World We Want) recognizes non-profit organizations that have adopted good practices in many different aspects. This year, the Award was also held in partnership with Ambev, relying on the technical support of researchers from Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) and the Toyota do Brasil Foundation. SITAWI has been recognized before among the Top 100 Best NGOs in 2017 and 2018. “Due to the pandemic, this year was more challenging than ever for organizations whose work is taking care of people, society and the environment. That is why the Top 100 Best NGOs Award this year is special”, says Marcelo Estraviz, director of Instituto Doar.

 In addition to the Top 100, the Award also recognized NGOs in specific categories such as their region, their cause, and so on. IDESAM, our partner, was the winner in two categories: Environment/Sustainability and the Northern region of Brazil.

“Acknowledgements like this motivate us to keep moving forward and diffusing Social Finances in Brazil and Latin America as a whole. We move forward with the feeling that, even in the middle of a complex economic and health crisis, we are on the right path”, adds Renata Linhares, Relationship Manager at SITAWI.
