"Keith- the Juvenile Dove with a fractured wing"

By Ratiranjan Mahapatra | Project manager

Speeding urbanization, deforestation, and habitat destruction put urban wildlife in an immense threat, Birds like a dove, myna, bulbul, Indian black kite, shikra, and many more found themselves helpless. We have received a lot of orphans, nestling & fledgling, juvenile birds regularly. The infants are taught by their parents to fly and survive. They mostly are taught on the ground to hide and survive from predators. People confuse them of being lost or injured and bring them to our center in terms of saving them. But in reality, they are being parted away from their parents. This is the nesting season for many birds, with an increasing loss of natural habitat, causes related to the falling of infant birds or nests with eggs have increased.

‘Keith’ the baby dove was rescued and brought to us in a shabby condition. A passer-by found it under the nest, hiding near some old boxes. After examination and X-ray, our Vets found that the radius had a minor fracture and has been treated with a splint bandage. Luckily, the ulna was intact which will give the bird a better chance to heal. Keith is a super active and extremely cute baby who loves to play hide & seek with our doctors. Our team is super excited to have Keith in our facility. Currently the bird is under-recovery in our Infant Care Unit. We know for sure that baby Keith will grow beautifully and will go back to its natural habitat when the time will arrive.

Dear Friend, saving baby Keith was a big achievement for us, but we could not have done that without your support. We save all these innocent lives through your generous contribution. With the help of your donation, Jivdaya Charitable Trust saves over 4000 animals and birds every month. Thank you once again for having faith in us.
