Harrier ‘Kiko’ recovering from a complete Radius-Ulna Fracture
‘Kiko’ is a Marsh Harrier, a bird of prey with long wings and a long narrow tail. We received the bird at Jivdaya with a complete radius-ulna fracture in the left wing. Kiko was in tremendous pain and under shock. After taking an x-ray our vet immediately decided to perform a surgery under general anaesthesia. Our surgeon fixed Kiko’s wing with intramedullary pinning. JCT team started taking excellent post-surgery care through regular bandaging, painkiller & anti-biotic medication and most importantly Physiotherapy. With all the medication and care Kiko is recovering rapidly. We are hoping within a few weeks the bird will again spread its wings and touch the sky.
Nothing can be more comforting for us than seeing a bird regaining its strength from a severe injury and going back to wild.
