'Jacky' had a heatstroke but cured with a prompt d

By Moumita | Program Director

April, May & June are the hottest months in many parts of India, especially in Ahmedabad. Every year temperature crosses 45 degrees Celsius but this year it has already crossed 47degree Celsius long back. Many people have lost their lives in this heatwave while others are suffering terribly. Climate change made a huge impact on our environment.

Despite having all the facilities if we are suffering, then imagine the condition of our stray buddies. Every day we are receiving cases of heatstroke and severe dehydration. Jacky is one such case. Jacky came to us with bleeding from his nose and heavy breathing. Doctors immediately checked and identified that Jacky had a heatstroke. Our team promptly started his treatment by bringing his body temperature down in a controlled climate and started a wet pack followed by the necessary medication.

Initially, Jacky was having more than 105-degree Celsius body temperature which later came down to 102 after stabilizing his condition. After a lot of hard work, Jacky was out of danger and went back home with his family.

This is a common problem in the summer but sometimes heatstroke could be fetal. We request all to be a little compassionate and provide shelter and a bowl of clean drinking water to our furry friends and save many lives.

Check the video in the link for a basic idea and necessary dos and don’ts for Heatstroke. Hope it will be helpful for many of us.
