An injured Black-winged Stilt was found by a local kid when it was playing near a playground which was on the side of a water body. The kind-hearted kid then took the bird home where his parents helped him to transport the injured bird to Jivdaya Charitable Trust for treatment and rehabilitation.
The doctors found an open fracture of femur bone near hock joint and loss of muscle mass. As the injury was a little old, our vets did not have any option other than amputate its leg. Our team successfully saved the bird’s life through an hour-long surgery. Now the bird is recovering rapidly and once its recovered, we will shift it to the aviary where the bird will be able to live amongst other birds and a natural environment.
