The Story of Veeru the Bullfrog
The Indian Bullfrog is a vibrant amphibian native to the Indian subcontinent. Known for its large size and distinctive yellow coloration during the breeding season, this species plays a vital role in the ecosystem by controlling insect populations. However, monsoon season—essential for their survival—often turns perilous when these frogs venture onto busy roads in search of mates or new habitats. With increasing urbanization, such journeys frequently result in tragic encounters with vehicles, highlighting a growing crisis of human-wildlife conflict.
One such victim was Veeru, an Indian Bullfrog brought to our care with a severe injury—a fracture in the tibio-tarsus of his left limb. Though his body was small, his will to live was mighty. Our veterinary team assessed the damage and performed a delicate surgery, carefully placing an intramedullary pin to support the fractured bone. Veeru received round-the-clock care, warmth, and attention. Slowly but surely, he began to show signs of improvement—a tiny but powerful leap toward recovery. His journey is a reminder that every life, no matter how small, is worth fighting for.
