At Jiguar Foundation, we work towards identifying any developmental or behavioral concerns in children as early as possible. We aim to detect these concerns in the rural communities where there is very little help. Our team in rural Gujarat does screening programs and camps in schools, spreads awareness among parents and teachers, and educates the doctors for picking up these children as early as possible. These children then get placed and treated by the near by therapy centers
The developmental and behavioral problems amongst children in the rural community of Mehsana, are primarily due to the lack of awareness among parents, doctors and schools, unable to afford therapies, increased population and late detection and intervention practices. There is also a problem of disconnect among the parents, school system and doctors. Amongst children there is an increase in autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disability, speech language disorders
Through your donations we are looking for the following OUTCOMES in the underserved areas of our communities 1)Promoting a positive parent-child relationship as the core of intervention efforts 2)Working with providers to coordinate the treatments with families 3)Sharing knowledge of child development with families
Children develop at different paces and any sign of failing to reach a certain milestone at the appropriate stage of the child's development, if picked up early and intervened early, can help prevent and/or treat the disability which further prevents the behavioral challenges in the child's development and learning. JIGUAR aims to develop a system whereby the rural children can be picked up through simple evaluations in the JIGUAR app, provide support to the families and intervention to children
