Challenge

Every year, 200,000 people are diagnosed with cancer, and the resulting mortality rates are a grave concern. Since its establishment in 1998, LOSEV has been committed to supporting children with leukemia and cancer, assisting over 90,000 children to date. The majority of these families—87%—come from low-income backgrounds, with 11% having no income at all. To overcome financial barriers, LOSANTE Hospital provides free treatment and accommodation, ensuring that every patient receives the care they need.

Solution

LOSANTE Hospital is equipped with a highly skilled medical team and advanced expertise. While the success rate for treating leukemia was 25% in the 1990s, it has now risen to 94% at our facility. Our mission is to expand our services to reach more cancer patients. The high cost of treatment necessitates additional fundraising to support both children and adult cancer patients. This project aims to raise the necessary funds to continue our critical work.

Long-Term Impact

The success of leukemia and cancer treatment relies on the support from individuals, institutions, and corporate partners globally. LOSEV is dedicated to enhancing the lives of our patients through shared experiences, increased awareness, and robust funding. By doing so, we aim to provide a healthier and more hopeful future for those we serve.

Here is a breakdown of how the funds have been and will be used to achieve our goals:

1. Medical Supplies

  • Allocation: $20 USD per donation
  • Purpose: To purchase essential medical supplies required for patient care, including medications, diagnostic tools, and other necessary items for the treatment of leukemia and other cancers.

2. Furniture for the Oncology Ward

  • Allocation: $50 USD per donation
  • Purpose: To improve and maintain the quality of furniture in the oncology ward, ensuring a comfortable and supportive environment for patients and their families during treatment.

3. Medical Equipment

  • Allocation: $200 USD per donation
  • Purpose: To acquire and upgrade critical medical equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. This includes machines for imaging, monitoring, and other diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.

4. Treatment Expenses for Children with Leukemia

  • Allocation: $1,000 USD per donation
  • Purpose: To cover the comprehensive treatment costs for a child with cancer. The total estimated cost for three years of treatment is approximately $100,000 per child. Each donation helps to offset these expenses, ensuring continued care and treatment.

5. Non-Refundable Health Grants

  • Allocation: $1,500 USD per donation
  • Purpose: To provide monthly financial support to the families of children undergoing treatment. These grants help cover various living expenses, reducing the financial burden on families and allowing them to focus on their child’s recovery.

Thank You

We extend our deepest gratitude to all our donors and supporters. Your contributions directly impact the lives of children and families affected by cancer. Together, we are making a tangible difference and moving closer to a future where every child has access to the care they need.
