Update on the progress report on

By James Rosita Nkeiruka | Project Leader

Happy New Year from all of us at Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation. We want to, in a special way thank you immensely for your kindness and generosity to our project. Thanks for your support which has helped us impact many lives in our community. We do not take your donations for granted at all, it is gratefully appreciated. The people whom we are helping through your generosity extend their heart of appreciation to you too.

Contributions like yours are continuing to make a difference. They are supporting Sam Onyemaechi humanitarian Foundation's response efforts and delivering crucial help and hope to people in need amid hostilities, constant stress, and difficult conditions away from home.

We cannot but express our sincere heart of appreciation for your generosity towards our cause to, "HELP FIGHT CLIMATE ACTION IN S/EAST NIGERIA".

During our community outreach we discovered many families living in shanties caused by disaster crisis that require shelter to cover their heads. We tried our best with the little we have to assist. We couldn't do much because we were handicapped.

The major problems we identified in the course of our community outreach in many rural areas are poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, homelessness, crime, social evils, lower living standards, lack of facilities, services, and health coupled with the recent disaster crisis which have impoverished many communities in the southeast.

The major challenges we face in our project management is occasioned by poor funding, inadequate equipment to execute the projects, absence of technical expertise, economic and political instability and environmental . All these contribute to delaying our performance in our humanitarian services.

Besides, the recent flooding in Nigeria has affected the lives of many people, and the situation is still evolving. Many families are impoverished. We tried our best with the little at our reach to help the immediate needs of those who have lost everything. We couldn't do much because we are incapacitated. We gave some families who are mostly affected seed money to get back on their feet, though not sufficient. Many of these families are living in shelters, which are overcrowded and unsanitary. They need food and water, medical supplies, clothing, and other necessities. They also need someone who cares enough about them to send a helping hand.

There are thousands of others who are in need of help. We know this is not an easy thing for us as individuals—but it is something we can do with our community support. The disaster has affected 27 of Nigeria's 36 states. Flooding in various parts of Nigeria have forced millions of people from their homes, destroyed businesses, polluted water resources and increased the risk of diseases.

As most people are well aware, the immediate impacts of flooding include loss of human life, damage to property, destruction of crops, loss of livestock, and deterioration of health conditions owing to waterborne diseases. This economic damage caused by disasters varies. Capital assets and infrastructure such as housing, schools, factories and equipment, roads, dams and bridges are lost.

Below is how we receive money and how it was used.
