By Cora Sayre | Project Leader
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support in order for us to improve upland biodiversity in Misamis Oriental. The project is off to a good start with local supporters pledging financial assistance to this project. We aim to plant 30,000 tree seedlings of different species this year with the species comprising bamboo, cacao, durian and hardwood timber species. Aside from the income consideration for small farmers this project is aimed at reducing soil loss due to erosion as well as improving soil fertility. Our target project area is the west Misamis Oriental mountain range that provides water to Cagayan de Oro rivers and streams. This reporting period we started to plant shade plants that will shade the young seedlings from too much heat. The shade plant is mainly banana. We were able to plant 750 banana for this project.
Agian thank you very much for your generosity.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
