The Tsagnoria School has raised an amazing £2,065, and we’d like to thank all the gracious donors who have helped raise this so far. We especially like to thank our monthly donors, and also those who donated during the Global Giving 50% match. However, there is still another £3,000 needed for this project. Our vision is to see this project completely funded by the end of this year so that these children can go to a better school as soon as possible. So please help us by spreading the word and continuing to donate.
Currently the school is still in need of complete roofing and rendering of the walls to ensure that the school is useable all year round. It costs only £132 to provide 10 aluminium roofing sheets. These roofing sheets will allow the children to be able to go to school in the rain and also means that the school books can be protected from the weather and last for longer.
With the youth literacy rate from 2008-2012 being low around 65% in Madagascar (UNICEF), it is important for more and more children, like those at Tsagnoria School to be able to read and write and to be educated to give them more opportunities as they grow older. A fully repaired school should benefit around 1000 children in the next ten years and help them to get a better education and aid in stemming illiteracy rates in the Anosy region. Other features, for example the desks and benches, will allow the children to sit and work more easily, providing a better atmosphere and helping them concentrate on their studies.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you can receive an email when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports without donating.
