2023 Turkey Earthquake Recovery for Children

Dear Mavi Kalem donor,
Once again, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for your generous and continuous support to MaviKalem's 2023 Turkey Earthquake Recovery for Children project.
Following the February 6, 2023 Earthquakes, MaviKalem began emergency response efforts in the earthquake zone to empower affected communities. With your donations, we met the basic needs of children and women, built playgrounds, and conducted psychosocial support activities.
More than two years have passed since the earthquakes. However, most of the population, especially in Hatay province, continues to live in container cities. Temporary shelters do not provide a healthy and safe environment, especially for children. In our interviews with families, they say that their children have difficulty coping with emotional difficulties, lack safe playgrounds and experience intense anxiety. This is why we continue to provide psychosocial support to children in Hatay.
With your support, we conducted play and art activities with 100 children aged 7-12 in Hatay. Esma (10), who participated in our activities, wrote: “Our house was demolished, but I drew our old house. I had a swing in the garden, so I put it there.”
