In the aftermath of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake which hit in the early hours of this morning, a SmartAID Search & Rescue team is left this afternoon in Gaziantep quake affected region in Turkey to rescue people who are trapped in the rubble of collapsed buildings. SmartAID is aims to install connectivity, solar energy and clean water units to support survivors, first responders and charities arriving to the field.
One of the strongest earthquakes to hit the region in a century shook residents from their beds at around 4 a.m. on Monday killing thousands of people and leavi mg tens of thousands injured and homeless.
We are sent a search and rescue team to help find survivors. We also purchasing clean water units to prevent massive donations of water bottles that are short term solutions and impact the environment. Most people in disaster zones ask for a place to connect their cell to charge and have Wi-Fi so they can reach out to their families and charities for help.
The long term impact is that clean water units, telecommunications systems and solar generators will enable the people to survive in a dignified way for months to come.
