Challenge

Youth unemployment in ohangwena is a significant challenge stemming from factors like a mismatch between education and labor market needs, insufficient entrepreneurship culture, and economic downturns, with solutions involving educational alignment, skills development, financial support for entrepreneurs, and diversified economic strategies.

Solution

The project will provide essential resources like food and medicinal products, contribute to soil health, support biodiversity, and offer economic opportunities to enhance economic stability for young girls and women through sustainable utilization of local resources like bushwood and indigenous fruits.

Long-Term Impact

1. The management and processing of tree products, such as Maryland oil extraction or basket weaving from makalani leaves, create employment opportunities. 2. Utilizing indigenous plant resources sustainably supports local economies and traditional livelihoods. 3. Trees will provide a locally resourced raw material for small and medium- sized enterprises. 4. Trees will provide essential food sources, especially during periods of droughts, contributing to the food security of communities.
