By Cora Sayre | Project Leader
Dear Friends,
Greetings from Samar and thank you very much for your support to our project to provide food, sanitation and livelihood to poor families affected by Typhoon Hagupit. The need for sanitation is still very great here and we are at this time focusing our effort to assist local families to be aware of the problem of open defecation and on how to build low-cost toilets using local available materials. We are also training what we call "barefoot sanitation technicians" who are local people who will be able to impart knowledge to their neighbors. This reporting period we are able to train 35 leaders mostly women on basic sanitation planning. We are assisted in this effort by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
