Engaging children to do gardening

By Cora Sayre | Project Leader

Children as gardeners
Children as gardeners

Dear Friends,

Warm greetings and thank you for your continuing support to our project providing food supply for poor families affected by the typhoon here in Leyte. I am happy to report that this reporting period we are starting to engage children to do gardening too as the activity is simple and does not require much effort. We were able to orient and provide vegetable seeds to 110 children this time and they are happy with their accomplishments. The parents are happy too because instead of the children doing other things, part of their time is spent in their gardens making them productive and training them to be responsible citizens. The next phase of this initiative will be to train them how to cook the vegetables so that they are nice to eat. We will link with municipal nutrition officers for this effort.

Again, thank you very much.

Very sincerely yours,

Cora
