Reduce Work Hours for Ecuador's Street Children- #31580

By UBECI Administrative Volunteer Team

Hola!

We at UBECI wish to share our immense gratitude for your continued support to United to Benefit Ecuadorian Children, International (UBECI). Through your donations, we have maintained educational and recreational activities for the economically disadvantaged children of Quito’s market. Without your support, this month’s activities regarding Ecuadorian geography, musical education, traditional dance, national symbols, painting, and art would not have been possible. With all these activities you have strengthened the identity and self - esteem of our children via our market run games and projects, children who would otherwise be obliged to assist in sustaining their family through market work.

Through your aid, we have helped over 522 in the last two months with their personal development through our workshops and we aim to help many more.

From the words of a volunteer:

“UBECI is not a regular organization. It doesn’t just focus on playing with children, but on creating a safe environment, a positive space, and learning experiences. I really like how they focus on the educational aspect or lessons. The thing that really stood out to me is how the children took care of and supported each other–the way they look out for each other. A 5-year-old sister would pick up her 3-month-old sister to care for her, like a mini adult. UBECI, with its different projects for different kids, provides a space where the 5-year-old can be a 5-year-old, an opportunity she would not have otherwise.

“Something donors should know is that they are supporting such a beautiful organization. The staff and everyone involved provides such good energy and motivation to all the volunteers as well as the kids in the market. The staff here work so hard and have such positive attitudes that it influences the children’s happiness. They are very resourceful, from using bottle caps to put paint in to singing educational songs for the children–they know how to make the best out of the worst.”  -Ann

Your continued support plays a crucial role in allowing our volunteers on the ground to maintain our current projects and to extend education, self-confidence and new opportunities to even more children. Our other ongoing microprojects include our “Dental Care and Education Project” and our “Emotional Support for Girls in Quito Project”. Our Dental Care project aims to provide 250 children with dental evaluations and dental toolkits in order to establish positive hygiene habits, while our Emotional Support project provides local psychologists and self-esteem.

Thus, we thank you once again for all of your support and hope to continue our partnership.
