Reduce Work Hours for Ecuador's Street Children

We at UBECI would like to thank you again for your continued support for our programs for

the Children of the Market. Through your donations we have just successfully finished our

“Reduce Work Hours for Ecuador’s Street Children”. In the last two months we have been

able to help 745 children of the market learn social responsibility and the strength of the

Without your support, we would not have been able to reach this program’s dual goals of

teaching the children social skills and individual growth. The social skills we are focusing on

are: communication and cooperation; social aptitude and responsibilities; and enhancing

their understanding of group dynamics through sports. We are also concentrating on goals

that increase each child’s individuality through: strengthening their self-esteem; developing

their own imagination and creativity; and helping them to understand the strength of their

culture’s and family’s histories and traditions. In addition to these goals, we also engage the

children in numerous activities that enhance the children’s studying and understanding of a

STEM education.

As always our volunteers were of a great help and as one said:

“I like that the children can gain inspiration from me and how they stay with me when I am

with them and that they want to get me involved with their lives. I also like to challenge their

ideas of the roles that men and women have in society.” --volunteer

Your continued support plays a crucial role in allowing our volunteers on the ground to not

only maintain our programs but also allow us to ensure that the children have a strong base

from which to grow and succeed..

Improving the Lives of the Children of the Market

We at UBECI wish to share our immense gratitude for your continued support to United to Benefit Ecuadorian Children, International (UBECI). Through your donations, we have maintained educational and recreational activities for the economically disadvantaged children of Quito’s market. 

Without your support this month’s goals of forming and strengthening the children’s self esteem and emotional health;  improving their concentration and memory;  stimulating their creativity;  and strengthening their exchange of ideas and understanding of social responsibility, would not be possible.

Through your aid, we have also helped over 745 in the last two months with their personal development through our workshops and we aim to help many more.

“UBECI has been one of the best experiences of my life. We often forget how fortunate we are, and how easily accessible education and medical options are. These children have taught me the importance of happiness and appreciation for what you have. We read to the children, we sing to the children, as well as teach them the basic fundamentals of social interactions and education. The children are all welcomed and greeted in a safe and educational environment. Your continued support plays a crucial role in allowing our volunteers on the ground to maintain our current projects and to extend education, self-confidence and new opportunities to even more children.

Our other ongoing microprojects include our “Dental Care and Education Project” and our “Emotional Support for Girls in Quito Project”. Our Dental Care project aims to provide 250 children with dental evaluations and dental toolkits in order to establish positive hygiene habits, while our Emotional Support project provides local psychologists and self-esteem.  Our specific objective this month is to focus on the development of self care habits for the children: washing their hands, brushing their teeth, combing their hair etc. Teaching them self-care habits in their early stages of life, how to practice them on a daily basis. 

This program allows children to develop basic social skills. These skills help the development of a healthy body and mind, this is crucial for the long term mental and educational development of these children. Without healthy lifestyles and habits, these children will not be able to become active members of society.
