Taking care of Human Trafficking survivors

By Jorge de Ory Murga | Head of International Alliances Department

In previous reports we have shared with you testimonies from some of the survivors who live in the Udaan shelter home. There, they face a daily struggle to leave their nightmare behind and regain hope and dignity.

However, in this report we would like to highlight the importance of those who work every day with the survivors in the shelter. People who dedicate their best efforts to help them on their difficult but hopeful path. And who become not only their caregivers, but their friends.

They share their joys about their progress, as well as their disappointments when things don't go so well. When one of them finishes her rehabilitation and leaves the shelter, they feel at the same time her joy for having helped her reach the goal and her sadness for having to say goodbye.

One of these persons is Pramila, 47 years old, who joined our shelter two years ago to help the beneficieries of the Udaan shelter project. She herself is a survivor of gender violence, and from ther previous experience she wanted to make a difference and give all her support to other women in difficult situations

In her won words:

"I want to help those who really need it, those who want to stand up with confidence against injustice.

I am convinced that even if you have a good family, a good husband and good parents, every woman should protect her rights and should be financially independent."

No doubt her story is so inspiring! Thank you, Pramila, for your work in favour of other women.

And also thank you for supporting our project!
