By Yuliya Brodska | Ukraine Partnership and Grants Consultant
Thank you for your generous donation to the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund. Your donation has been making a difference for communities during the ongoing war in Ukraine and in countries that welcomed people who sought refuge.
It’s already been more than 1.5 years since the start of the full-scale invasion, but the scope of the war’s damage and community needs remain great. We increasingly hear from our local nonprofit partners that they need support to continue responding and adapting, and it is crucial that donor support does not slow down. We had a chance to hear these reflections in person when members of GlobalGiving’s team visited Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.
Since we last updated you, the fund has supported 47 high-impact nonprofit organizations responding to the crisis in Ukraine. As we continue to listen to our partners, support for these organizations includes both emergency and longer-term resources to address the widespread impact of the war in Ukraine and in neighboring countries. The grants we were able to provide with your support will continue to play a critical role for our partners in caring for children, the elderly, displaced families, people living with disabilities and chronic disease, and animals. They are also supporting activities geared toward a better future for Ukraine, including demining, digital fundraising trainings for nonprofits, social cohesion, and education.
Here is what one organization working in Moldova, Katalyst, wanted you to know about the impact of your donation:
"Thank you again to GlobalGiving [and to all our donors]. Without your help, we’d probably still be three volunteers bouncing around in an old van, trying to make a difference...[now] we operate the largest food bank in the capital of Moldova, serving thousands of families every week." - Katalyst
Here is a short description of some of the critical work you’ve supported:
Your support for the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund powers community-led responses to the critical needs in Ukraine and neighboring communities that are helping refugees. Thank you.
My personal reflection from Kyiv is that the ongoing war affects every Ukrainian, the country’s ecosystem, and the chance for future generations to live in peace in their homeland. Living in Ukraine teaches one to appreciate each day, especially as communities experience air raids, massive drone attacks, fear of nuclear and ecological threats, and displacement and separation from loved ones.
Thanks to your generosity, we will continue to support our partners in the days and years to come. You can find a full list of nonprofit partners that recently received grants from the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund at the end of this report.
With warm gratitude,
Yuliya + the GlobalGiving Team

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
