Thank you for your generous donation to the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund. Donations to this GlobalGiving Fund continue to make a significant difference for communities impacted by the war on Ukraine as we approach the second winter since the war began.

I recently visited Lviv in western Ukraine, where many internally displaced people live. I was able to witness firsthand the impact of your donations as I connected with our partners.

As the full-scale war continues to be waged on millions of people, GlobalGiving’s partners are facing both ongoing and new needs. Many families remain separated, critical infrastructure is at risk or damaged without repair, and the toll of the war on people’s minds and bodies is rising. Your ongoing generosity is helping people with disabilities, children, the elderly, those trapped by the fighting, marginalized communities such as LGBTQIA+, Roma people, and others in need of support.

Since last September, donations from the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund have supported nine grants to high-impact and community-led nonprofit organizations at the forefront of the crisis in Ukraine and across refugee-hosting communities where millions have fled since February 2022.

Here is what one grant recipient wanted you to know about the impact of your donation:

This generous contribution is a ray of hope for the children who have lost their parents due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. Your support is truly a gift that will make a significant difference in the lives of these vulnerable children, especially as winter approaches.” —Kateryna Pozinenko, Children Of Heroes Of Ukraine Foundation

Here is a short description of some of the critical work you’ve supported:

  • Kharkiv rehabilitation centre 'Pravo vibora'  has the goal to improve the quality of life and integration of children and youth with disabilities into society through rehabilitation. The organization focuses on people with visual impairments in particular. Their work in Ukraine and in Germany is ensuring people are not left behind in the response to the war.
  • Children Of Heroes Of Ukraine Foundation works with Ukrainian children and their families who have lost one or both parents to the war, delivering the urgent and long-term support they need in the most difficult moments. For example, the organization has been providing laptops and other learning tools so children can continue their learning amidst severe disruptions to education and the loss of family members.
  • International Charitable Organization Roma Women Chiricli is providing support to Roma communities with a focus on women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Roma populations have historically faced challenges in accessing services, and Chiricli is filling these gaps by ensuring Roma have access to education, humanitarian, legal, and psychological aid, advocacy, and social entrepreneurship opportunities throughout Ukraine—including during the current cold season.

Your support of the GlobalGiving Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund powers community-led responses, and it means people affected by the war in Ukraine receive vital help now and in the years to come. Stay tuned for another update in early 2024, with a focus on longer-term support for partners. You can find the latest list of nonprofits receiving a grant from the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund at the end of this report.

With gratitude,

Yuliya + the GlobalGiving Team
