Our Angels of Hope team has been on the ground in Kherson since Tuesday, June 6 responding to the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam and hydroelectric station on the Dnipro River in southern Ukraine.
The destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam and hydroelectric station on the Dnipro River in southern Ukraine and subsequent flooding has damaged homes beyond repair. News reports say that thousands of people are still trapped in the area without help as they face continued shelling. Those stuck in the flooded areas are experiencing catastrophic conditions, without livable homes, access to safe drinking water, or food.
Our Angels of Hope team has been on the ground in Kherson since the dam broke. We are on the ground, helping and rescuing people in railway stations, bus stations, and homes where people are stranded. We have set up several tents in Kherson where our volunteers will distribute our supplies: ready-to-eat meals, tea, sugar, water, diapers, blankets, and dry clothing. Another team is providing medical help, including much needed insulin, blood pressure meds, thyroid pills, and antibiotics.
The project will provide at least 1,000 Ukrainian flood victims with hot food, dry clothing, and other basic necessities, which will help give them comfort in the face of this disaster.
