Summary

As of February 24, 2022, Ukraine is facing one of the biggest emergencies in Europe since World War II. Currently, more than 14.6 million people are seeking psychological assistance, due to stress and anxiety caused by the recent war in Ukraine. Thanks to the extensive experience of Cooperas staff in mental health and psychosocial support in emergency situations, we plan to train 30 Ukrainian psychologists to provide treatment to over 72.000

Challenge

According to the WHO nearly 10 million Ukrainians are suffering from mental health conditions like depression or anxiety, due to the war, as per UNICEF 1.5 million are children. This project aims to help around 100.000 people out of 7,5M displaced, that are struggling with traumas causing them emotional exhaustion, affecting their adaptation capacity, and leading to suicidal tendencies. The purpose it's extremely important in order to support the process of mental recovery of these human lives.

Solution

All donations to this fund will support mental health relief efforts through the set-up of two children-friendly community centres in the regions of Kryvyi Rih and Zaporizhzhia district. The main activities will be: training of 30 local therapists in techniques of disaster recovery and traumas, to provide both, individual and group sessions. Sessions will be "on site" and on line through "Mental Help", an online psychological assistance platform run by the Global Compact Network Ukraine.

Long-Term Impact

The project will fully train 30 local Ucranian Psychologists in Modern Psychotherapy techniques for the treatment of war trauma, who will be able to provide on line and off line theraphy.Coopera Ukraine will open an online platform to book free online sessions with Ukrainian psychologists trained in modern techniques for post-incident trauma treatment and long-term psychotherapeutic support.
