This project will build 100 emergency houses in the south of Chile in order to provide a safety, dry and worm home to 100 families living in vulnerable conditions.
There are currently more than 46,000 families living in 822 slums in Chile. 90% of them dont have access to water, 91% dont have access to sewage systems . 75% dont hace access to formal electricity. Children, seniors and adults are exposed to cold, rain, dirt and pollution which generates many health problems. Adults are often unemployed and their children have to work from an early age to help support their family. Yet, other chileans enjoy the benefits of an economically-growing-country.
By giving emergency houses for the 100 worst-condition families, they ensure at least 8 years with the most basic human rights in terms of housing vulnerability. With this project we aim to solve on of the most primary neccesities: protection and security against the environment. This basic need is the most urgent and one that we have identified as an organization as a priority.
Our dream is to create fair and sustainable cities, where everyone could enjoy of an integrated society. The potential long-term impact of this project is to give a chance to 100 vulnerable families of sharing this same dream. A emergency house with the most minimun human rights being cover is the first step that the family will take to get their proper home, allowing them a real possibility to rise out of poverty.
