UNBROKEN KIDS Center is a unique place where children affected by war will receive comprehensive, qualified medical treatment including reconstructive surgery, orthopedics and custom robotic prosthetics. Its purpose is to treat, rehabilitate and support the children of Ukraine by providing excellent medical care and psychological support for healing war trauma.
Since the beginning of the war, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has recorded 21,293 civilian casualties. The majority of these deaths, including 1,441 children among them, were caused by the use of explosive weapons, resulting in the leading cause of death: burns to >30% of total body surface and injuries penetrating vital organs. Worse yet, 89% of these attacks devastated healthcare facilities in Ukraine
UNBROKEN KIDS provides comprehensive, qualified medical treatment including reconstructive surgery, orthopedics and robotic prosthetics to those seeking refuge in Lviv. Prosthetics will be custom-made to better serve young patients. The Center at Saint Nicholas Hospital focuses on pediatric medicine, occupational therapists and physiotherapy, prioritizing physical and psychological rehabilitation of war-wounded pediatric patients and offering free safe housing to families in need.
We have a yearly goal of treating 10,000 Ukrainians at the Center. With this designated space, we hope to double the number of patients treated and rehabilitated from war-related trauma, limit hospital mortality, and concentrate activities that would otherwise be spread across multiple pediatric wards and outpatient clinics. We aim to keep families together and institutionalize partnerships among medical professionals in Lviv to develop a greater pediatric support network across Europe.
