The project focuses on training and empowerment of students in order to acquire practical skills and mentorship especially in underfunded schools of Uganda, to encourage students to further their education and pursue an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset. It also sponsors the school fees for orphaned children allowing them to attend school and have better livelihoods. Such empowerment is key to both breaking the cycles of poverty and developing our young leaders of tomorrow.
80% of students in Uganda do not complete secondary school, and more than 68,000 orphan children in Wakiso district are out of school, according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics. Without quality education, these children are unable to afford a livelihood and therefore are at risk of starvation, crime, drugs, begging on the streets, and these girls are forced into early marriages or to prostitution. This project trains them to work to their full potential to earn a decent livelihood.
The project trains and empowers its student beneficiaries with practical and theoretical entrepreneurship skills enough to operate their own businesses, utilizing local resources and promoting sustainable development across their respective villages, hence helping to create a brighter upgraded future. The project also provides education through scholarships and provision of basic scholastic materials as well as mentorship and coaching to underprivileged orphans so that no child is left out.
The project beneficiaries will have unlocked their potential to innovate, transform and manage their own livelihoods independently. They will become ambassadors to share, train, and influence an entrepreneurial growth mindset to the underprivileged orphans in such conditions, hence breaking through the poverty cycle, and allowing them to pursue better opportunities for an upgraded future.
