Rolling Hope: A Mobile STEM Response to Hurricane

By Danielle Webster | Board of Directors

In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, schools in St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland are navigating the complex work of recovery, restoring routines, rebuilding confidence, and re-igniting curiosity for learning.

To meet these needs, SOSA will visit these students in a Mobile STEM Day designed to meet students exactly where they are, by bringing a STEM bus directly to affected schools. This mobile experience will deliver hands-on STEM kits, guided experiments, and interactive problem-solving activities that support joy, creativity, and discovery.

Beyond the experiments, these activities will be about promise, potential, and expanding horizons. Our hope is to encourage students through short, relatable talks, sharing real-world pathways and stories that connect science, technology, engineering, and math to everyday life, problem-solving, and future opportunities. For students impacted by disruption, this exposure can be transformational, offering not just knowledge, but hope, direction, and possibility.

Your continued support helps us to make this possible, turning relief into resilience, access into inspiration, and a lasting spark for Jamaica’s next generation of innovators. We look forward to sharing this upcoming experience with you!
