Happy ending

By Julia Krepska | Director

Happy future for our children
Happy future for our children

So our Dhading transit home project has come to an end. Together with the local government we made a decision to close down the project due to the lack of need and we will focus on other parts of Nepal.

We are still in touch with the children that we have helped so far and their families, and we will be continuing our educational and other support to those families that need it.

For the last 6 months or so, we ran a scaled down version of the project and worked in a collaboration with a local children's home where any children needing emergency assistance were referred to by the authorities. In the 6 months period, only 2 children needed assistance and now one of them has been moved to our permanent children's home in Birgunj and the other linked with his parents.

We have told the authorities that if at any point they encounter street children that need assistance, they should contact us and we will gladly help with the shelter, care and education at our children's home.

It's been a very successful project through which we helped nearly 100 children and their families. It was tough at times, especially soon after the earthquake but all the stress and hard work were really worth it. This would have never been possible without the great support we got from everyone. As a volunteer led organisation, we really appreciate all the support.

Now we are focusing on running our existing children's home, opening a day care centre in Birgunj and also on opening a new home for street children in a different area. So please follow our progress and check out the details of our other projects on our website and through the Global Giving pages.

Thank you so much!!
