This past year has challenged many in our community as they struggled to provide the most basic needs for their families during the Covid pandemic. The female heads of household faced the brunt of this, but through your generosity, you helped us deliver over 5,000 pounds of rice, pasta, cooking oil, and lemons into our students' homes! Additionally, each home received a three-month supply of soap. These relief items have directly impacted our community's health and well-being during a pandemic that stripped so many of food security and livelihoods. These are hardworking women with entire households depending on them.
As we asked for your support, Studio Samuel was also called upon by local officials to help. Our sewing lab, known in the community for providing menstrual kits (from our sewing students who make & distribute the kits) pivoted to make PPE for local health officials. Our students made over 1,000 masks which were given to local hospitals and clinics.
Key to this, our students who are born into extreme poverty understand empathy. They also learn they have the skills from their occupational training courses to give back to others, lifting their community as you've helped lift them.
We're grateful for your support and pleased to share that since this campaign launched, we've received two Certificates of Achievement from the local agencies for our Covid relief efforts - made possible by you.
Thank you!
