Dear Donor,
Uganda's successful conclusion of its 2026 Ebola outbreak provides an important public health milestone, while the continuing outbreak in neighboring DRC reinforces the importance of preparedness.
Uganda's outbreak was declared over on 25 August 2026 after 42 days without a new confirmed case. The country recorded 20 confirmed cases during the outbreak.
Development Alert continues encouraging communities to maintain responsible hygiene, early reporting and appropriate healthcare-seeking practices.
Ending an outbreak does not mean preparedness should disappear. Continued awareness can help communities recognize future health threats quickly and cooperate with public health authorities when necessary.
The experience also demonstrates the value of community participation during an emergency.
We remain committed to supporting informed communities and maintaining preparedness while protecting the progress achieved in Uganda.
