By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Dear Donor,
Thanks to your continued support, we are working toward a future in which communities are better prepared not only for Ebola, but for a wide range of public-health emergencies.
The lessons from the current Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak reinforce the importance of strong surveillance, trusted health communication, hygiene, early care-seeking, community engagement, and cross-border cooperation.
WHO notes that there are currently no licensed vaccines or approved therapeutics specifically targeting Bundibugyo virus disease, making strong preparedness, surveillance, diagnostics, clinical readiness, and community action especially important.
Our work therefore focuses on strengthening what communities can do now: understand risks, recognize alerts, communicate quickly, support vulnerable families, and cooperate with health systems.
Your generosity is helping turn today's difficult experience into stronger community preparedness for tomorrow
