Dear Donor,
Thanks to your continued support, we are reinforcing the importance of community cooperation, reliable information, and early reporting during the ongoing Ebola emergency.
Kenya's first imported Bundibugyo virus disease case has highlighted the importance of coordinated surveillance and contact tracing across national borders. The patient travelled from the DRC through Kampala before arriving in Nairobi, where the infection was confirmed. The patient subsequently died. By 11 October, Kenyan authorities reported that 108 of 122 identified contacts had been placed in quarantine and had not developed symptoms at that time.
Contact tracing helps health teams identify people who may have been exposed, monitor their health, and respond quickly if symptoms develop.
At Development Alert, our community preparedness approach emphasizes cooperation with health professionals, responsible information sharing, and respect for the privacy and dignity of affected individuals.
We also encourage communities to avoid stigma and misinformation, which can discourage people from seeking help or cooperating with response teams.
Your generosity is helping reinforce the trust and awareness that make effective public-health action possible.
