Dear Donor,
Thanks to your continued support, we remain committed to raising awareness and strengthening community preparedness as the Ebola emergency expands.
On 18 October, Reuters reported that the outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo had spread to North Ubangi, the eighth affected province, where two cases, including one death, had been confirmed by the country’s National Institute for Biomedical Research. The province borders the Central African Republic, creating additional concerns for cross-border preparedness.
The same report stated that, as of 16 October, the DRC had recorded 9,415 cases and 4,536 deaths. These figures underline the urgent need for sustained surveillance, community engagement, infection prevention, and access to appropriate healthcare.
Our community preparedness priorities include sharing accurate information, encouraging early reporting, promoting hygiene practices, and helping vulnerable households understand how to follow health guidance.
We also recognize the importance of reaching remote communities that may face barriers to health services and timely information.
Your generosity is helping sustain the awareness and community participation needed to complement the wider Ebola response.
