By Development Alert | Project Leader
Dear Donor,
Thanks to your generous support, Development Alert continues to highlight the urgent need for sustained preparedness and community protection as the Ebola outbreak expands.
According to ECDC’s update published on 16 October, the Democratic Republic of the Congo had recorded 9,277 confirmed Bundibugyo virus disease cases, 4,478 deaths, and 2,486 recoveries, based on data through 14 October. A total of 924 patients were hospitalized in isolation. The outbreak continues to affect multiple provinces, with Ituri remaining the most affected.
These figures represent a profound challenge for affected families, communities, and frontline responders.
Our community-preparedness priorities include strengthening public awareness, promoting hygiene, encouraging early reporting of suspected illness, reducing stigma, and supporting vulnerable households with practical information and referrals to appropriate services.
We also recognize the importance of reliable supply chains so that essential protective and hygiene materials can reach response teams and communities when needed.
Your support helps reinforce the community-level action that complements official response efforts and contributes to stronger, more resilient communities.
