Dear Donor,
Thank you for helping Development Alert protect children and support safer learning environments during public health emergencies.
Children should not have to choose between attending school, accessing nutritious food, and staying safe. During periods of heightened public health concern, food insecurity can create additional pressure on families and may encourage children to move around in search of meals.
Development Alert has supported feeding activities in affected primary schools to help children access meals at school. This assistance helps address immediate nutritional needs while reducing the pressure on children to leave school or travel elsewhere in search of food.
Alongside food support, school-based awareness can reinforce age-appropriate hygiene practices, including handwashing and understanding when to seek help from a trusted adult. Children should never be expected to diagnose or care for suspected Ebola patients themselves.
The DRC's outbreak remains serious, with 10,668 confirmed cases and 5,198 related deaths reported in the latest ECDC update. This makes it important to sustain safe, supportive environments for children and families.
Your generosity helps ensure that children are not forgotten during emergencies. Thank you for supporting both their wellbeing and their opportunity to learn.
