Dear Donor,
Thank you for supporting the people who work to protect communities during public health emergencies.
Healthcare workers and community responders face significant challenges during an Ebola outbreak. They need appropriate protective materials, reliable information, safe working practices, and strong coordination to reduce the risk of exposure.
The latest regional situation highlights the scale of this responsibility. By 4 November, the DRC had recorded 10,668 confirmed cases and 5,198 deaths. Kenya had also reported infections among healthcare workers within its confirmed cluster, demonstrating the importance of infection prevention and control.
Development Alert recognizes that protecting frontline workers is essential to protecting the wider community. Our response priorities include promoting safe hygiene practices, supporting the availability and delivery of essential prevention materials, and encouraging community members to cooperate with trained health personnel.
We also emphasize that suspected cases must be referred through appropriate health channels and that community volunteers should never undertake clinical duties beyond their training.
When healthcare workers are protected, they can continue providing essential services with greater confidence and safety.
Your support helps strengthen the community-level preparedness that complements professional healthcare services. Thank you for standing with those who serve on the front lines.
