Project Report February 2026

By Isabella Schwarzenberger | Philanthropy Manager

Summary of Funds Raised
During the reporting period, this project received contributions through GlobalGiving that, while limited in scale, carry deep significance. Each donation stands as a meaningful expression of solidarity with families in Gaza enduring one of today’s most severe humanitarian emergencies.

Use of Funds & Ongoing Activities
Due to the limited funds raised through GlobalGiving, the contribution has been integrated into Caritas Austria’s broader humanitarian response for Gaza. Caritas Austria is part of the international Caritas network and continues to support lifesaving assistance through trusted local partners in Gaza. This includes the provision of food, clean water, emergency shelter, medical assistance, cash support, and psychosocial care for children and families affected by conflict, displacement, and trauma.

Even small donations help sustain these efforts by supporting operational capacities and enabling flexible responses to urgent needs as they arise.

Humanitarian Context and Challenges
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains catastrophic. Families face extreme food insecurity, widespread displacement, and the collapse of essential services such as health care, water supply, and sanitation. At the same time, delivering aid is extraordinarily difficult. Access restrictions, ongoing violence, damaged infrastructure, and insecurity severely limit humanitarian operations.

In addition, mobilizing funds for Gaza has become increasingly challenging for all humanitarian organizations. Donor fatigue, competing global crises, and political sensitivities significantly affect fundraising efforts. This makes every donation—regardless of size—particularly meaningful in sustaining assistance to the most vulnerable.

Impact and Outlook
While the funds raised through GlobalGiving alone cannot generate measurable stand-alone outputs, they contribute to Caritas’ continuous emergency response in Gaza. By addressing urgent needs today, Caritas helps families survive, preserves dignity, and supports resilience under extreme conditions.

Caritas Austria remains committed to providing humanitarian aid in Gaza for as long as access is possible and needs persist. We are deeply grateful to all donors who chose to stand with people in Gaza during one of the most devastating humanitarian emergencies of our time.
