Lifesaving Medical Support for Vulnerable Afghans

By Sultan Ahmed | Project Leader

Twenty years of service in Afghanistan:

As FMIC enters its twentieth anniversary year, we continue to provide essential and often lifesaving medical care to vulnerable families across Afghanistan, including returnees who face severe barriers to accessing healthcare. Although we have not received project-specific donations during this reporting period, our commitment to supporting patients in need remains steadfast.

Impact Through the Patient Welfare Programme

Between January and March 2026, FMIC supported 17,159 patients through the Patient Welfare Programme, including:

  • 2,536 inpatients receiving advanced and emergency care

  • 14,623 outpatients benefiting from essential consultations

  • 1.14 million USD disbursed in financial assistance

  • Patients from all 34 provinces, with many arriving from remote and underserved regions

Since FMIC’s establishment, the programme has supported approximately 900,000 patients, with cumulative assistance exceeding 64 million USD.

Why Your Support Matters Now More Than Ever

Returning Afghan families continue to face significant hardship, often arriving with limited resources and urgent medical needs. As FMIC marks twenty years of service, our welfare programme remains a critical lifeline for these families. Continued donor engagement is essential to sustain this support during a period of profound national vulnerability.

A Call for Continued Support

We warmly invite our GlobalGiving community to join us in this milestone year. Your contributions allow FMIC to extend care to those who need it most, ensuring that no patient is left behind due to financial constraints. Every gift directly supports lifesaving treatment, dignity, and hope.

Thank you for standing with FMIC and the people of Afghanistan.
