Summary

Immediate rehabilitation support is required for 2500 children and their families who live in Chennai surroundings and affected by recent heavy flooding. This project will provide clothing, learning materials, medical care and psycho-social counselling for 2500 children, and livelihood support for their families. Special care to be provided for the needs of affected adolescent girls, providing sanitary material, supplementary educational support and construction of 21 houses completely damaged.

Challenge

Chennai has seen one of the worst disasters, with record rainfalls leading to heavy flooding and thousands of thousands lost their homes and their livelihood sources lost. 100000 families from our working area have lost all their belongings like dresses, cooking vessels, huts and the worst affected are the children and women. 50,000 Children lost their uniforms, dresses writing material ,school kits, they are also mentally disturbed.

Solution

CHHASE will provide affected children with materials like dresses, notebooks, school kit and also health care services, counseling and play material, involve them in drawing, paintings, songs, dance, and drama, to help them to forget this nightmare. 21 houses for those, who's houses completely destroyed and unable to live in. We will provide additional education support and families will be provided with skills training's, income generating programs to come out of poverty.

Long-Term Impact

This project will protect the flood survivors from homeless, starvation, health and other issues. 250 Small business people will be able to start business and earn. The livelihood sources of 2500 women will be strengthened and they will be provided skill trainings. Adolescent girls and their families health condition will improve, school kit, dresses, Special coaching and counselling continue their education without drop out. 21 flood victims families will get houses.
