In our mission to end gender-based violence (GBV), we held a transformative mental health training for women and girls. This session served as a healing ground—where trauma met truth, and silence was replaced with strength.
The goal was to explore the link between mental health and GBV, offering tools for resilience while dismantling the stigma that keeps so many women suffering in silence. We sought to:
Deconstruct mental health stigma
Offer self-care strategies
Normalize healing conversations
Affirm mental wellness as a right
We opened with grounding exercises and storytelling, creating trust and safety. Key focus areas included:
The mental toll of GBV: trauma, PTSD, shame
Emotional regulation and healthy coping tools
Peer-led support and community healing
Boundary-setting as resistance
Finding help in under-resourced settings
Interactive sessions, role-plays, and affirmations brought theory to life.
Key Messages
Speaking up is strength.
Boundaries are power.
Healing is revolutionary.
Mental health is not weakness—it’s survival.
Participant Voices
One young woman said, “Taking care of my mind is not selfish—it is sacred.” Many opened up for the first time, releasing years of buried pain.
Impact
Reached [insert number] women and girls
Increased awareness of mental health resources
Strengthened emotional solidarity
Sparked local commitment to embed mental health in GBV efforts
it was a turning point. When we heal minds, we ignite movements. We will expand this work, train grassroots leaders, and continue to champion healing as justice.
Let’s keep creating brave spaces. Let’s raise daughters who know their minds matter.
