Project Report | May 20, 2025
From Stigma to Strength

By Anna Palytsia | Project assistant

Pride No Shame continues its commitment to promoting menstrual dignity among adolescent girls in schools near refugee camps. With the generous support of our donors, we achieved the following milestones this quarter:

  • Produced 7,000 organic UZIMA sanitary pads, offering a sustainable and safe menstrual product for girls and women.
  • Distributed 4,254 pads to girls in six schools across Muhanga and Ngororero districts.
  • Educated 1,977 students through fun, stigma-free menstrual health sessions, fostering openness, confidence, and understanding.
  • Stocked 300 emergency pads in "School Girls Rooms" to ensure that no girl misses school due to menstruation.

Beyond its menstrual hygiene initiatives, Pride No Shame support Messi, a child living with severe mobility challenges. Over a period of two months, the organization coordinated medical evaluations and rehabilitation support for him.

According to a recent report from his attending physician, Messi—who initially had no mobility or muscle control—has shown remarkable improvement. He can now sit up independently and even managed to play the GYM bicycle.

Following the doctor’s recommendation, Messi is currently continuing his recovery at home, as this phase is considered crucial for his rehabilitation. He is scheduled to return to the hospital in the first week of June for further assessment and support. We remain hopeful for continued progress in his journey toward greater independence.

Your generosity gives girls the dignity, confidence, and resources they need to stay in school and succeed. It also brings life-changing care to children like Messi. Help us continue this vital work—donate today and be a part of their journey to a brighter future.
