Varna International Music Academy (VIMA) offers aspiring singers of all levels the opportunity to hone their craft while exploring the rich history and culture of Varna, Bulgaria. They attend classes and receive coaching from distinguished faculty, while also rehearsing for large-scale opera productions. By giving to VIMA, you are helping musicians from all socioeconomic backgrounds receive international training and performance opportunities while preparing for a professional career in music.
As costs of undergraduate and graduate degree programs skyrocket, many music majors struggle financially to pursue their passion. Musicians must also pay to attend summer programs to supplement their academic training and augment their resumes. These programs are often cost prohibitive and few offer fully-staged opera productions accompanied by professional orchestras. VIMA has offered modest scholarships through the years but has seen a substantial increase of those requiring financial aid.
Since 1999, VIMA has offered world-class music instruction and unparalleled performance opportunities to conductors, vocalists, and instrumentalists from the US and around the globe. VIMA is passionate about ensuring that musicians from all socioeconomic backgrounds are able to attend. This project will help us reach our goal of awarding scholarships to over 75 deserving musicians passionate about honing their craft.
Our alumni have shared that VIMA allowed them to grow more in 3 weeks than they had in a year of traditional study. As a result of VIMA's training and exposure, participants have gone on to feature roles in professional operas. Others have founded community orchestras in their hometown. All have grown exponentially.
